	Estimada membresía, Esperamos que el verano vaya estupendamente. Les enviamos unos recordatorios importantes. 1. Premio Adela Zamudio al mejor ensayo publicado. Fecha límite: 1 de julio 2. CFP- NEMLA. Fecha límite: 30 septiembre 3. CFP- Bridges Across Cultures. Fecha: 30 marzo 4. Nominaciones secretaria Feministas Unidas: Fecha límite: 31 de julio 1. Nos da un gran placer anunciar el Premio Adela Zamudio al mejor ensayo publicado por un/a socio/a de Feministas Unidas acerca de los temas feministas, estudios de género, estudios queer y estudios de la literatura y cine femeninos. Las condiciones del concurso son las siguientes: 1. El ensayo debe haber sido publicado entre el 1 de enero de 2017 al 31 de diciembre de 2017 en una revista de peer-review. 2. El/la autor/a debe ser socio/a de Feministas Unidas. 3. Se aceptarán ensayos escritos en español, inglés o portugués. 4. Se enviará la copia escaneada del ensayo en su versión original tomada de la revista (o un enlace en caso de una publicación virtual) y una copia en PDF que no contenga el nombre de el/la autor/a. La copia escaneada del ensayo y la versión en PDF se enviarán como archivos adjuntos antes del 1 de julio 2018 a Olga Bezhanova (obezhan@siue.edu) quien lo compartirá con el jurado. El/la ganador/a recibirá un año de membresía gratuita en Feministas Unidas, un certificado de haber ganado el concurso y el primer premio de $400 (USD) o el segundo premio de $200 (USD). Los premios se entregarán en la sesión de Feministas Unidas en el Congreso anual de MLA en Chicago en el enero de 2019 o por correo si el/la ganador/a no estará presente en el Congreso. Los premios son susceptibles de quedar desiertos si el jurado así lo determina. 2. NeMLA 2019 Theme: "Transnational Spaces: Intersections of Cultures, Languages, and Peoples" Intersectional Feminism in the Age of Transnationalism Feministas Unidas invites you to join our panel on intersectional feminism in the age of transnationalism. We will talk about the impact of transnationalism on feminist literature and on works by Hispanic female artists. This panel will discuss the ways in which transnationalism and feminism intersect in literature and film. What is the future of intersectional feminism in the age of transnationalism? How do literature and film help us understand the challenges that the feminist struggle will encounter in this era of growing interconnectivity? What positive and negative effects does the weakening of the nation-state model as a result of globalization have on the fight against gender-based discrimination? How do works of art by about women address the transformations in gender roles that are implicit in transnational experiences? Our commitment to intersectional feminism uniquely positions us to address these and related issues at the panel of Feministas Unidas at NeMLA. Please submit an abstract of 300 words or less and a brief bio to Olga Bezhanova at obezhan@siue.edu by September 30, 2018. 3. Bridges Across Cultures is an International Conference on the Arts and Humanities. Our 4th, biennial conference, is to be held in Maiori, Italy June 24th-28th, 2019. The “Bridges” conference provides an international venue and opportunity for academicians and professionals from various arts and humanities-related fields from all over the world to come together and learn from each other. This conference serves as a place for scholars and experts with cross-disciplinary interests related to arts and humanities to meet and interact with members within and outside of their own particular disciplines. TO SUBMIT A PAPER PLEASE PROVIDE BY EMAIL: A 200-word abstract A cover letter listing name (last, first), academic affiliation, title of the paper, telephone number, address & email Please send submissions to H.J. Manzari at bridgesacrosscultures@gmail.com (mention area of your paper in the subject line). Reading time for papers is limited to 20 minutes. All papers MUST be in English. The deadline for submissions is March 31st, 2019. You are cordially invited to submit an abstract for papers in English. All areas of arts and humanities are invited, but of particular interest are papers in the following fields: American Studies, Art History, Ethnic Studies, Film, History, World Literature, Popular Culture, Postcolonial Identities, Religion, Theatre, Visual Arts and Cross-disciplinary areas of arts and humanities. 4. Se abren elecciones para el puesto de Secretaria para Feministas Unidas Inc. Las responsabilidades son las siguientes: "The Secretary shall keep the minutes of the Annual Meeting of the coalition and of any Executive Committee meetings called; shall be in charge of arrangements for Annual Meeting; shall be in charge of any correspondence of the coalition and the Executive Committee."
