| Estimada membresía, Ahora que ha acabado el semestre, les deseamos unas felices fiestas y un próspero año nuevo. En enero, nuestra estimada presidenta Inmaculada Pertusa acaba su término. Les damos una calurosa bienvenida a María Calatayud, que entrará como nueva presidenta y a Rebecca Ulland, que será la nueva vicepresidenta. Agradecemos enormemente la admirable labor realizada por Inma, quien ha representado de forma excelente a Feministas Unidas durante los años que ha servido como vicepresidenta y presidenta de la Coalición. ¡Muchas gracias! How is terrorism related to women's experience / creativity /(in)visibility 3. DEADLINE EXTENDED: CFP ON INDIGENOUS RIGHTS AND STORYTELLING NOW DUE JANUARY 1, 2014. Call for Proposals for articles on the theme of INDIGENOUS RIGHTS REFLECTED IN INDIGENOUS STORIES AND STORYTELLING. Articles will be included in a guest-edited Fall 2014 issue of the Interinstitutional Consortium for Indigenous Knowledge newsletter (ICIK E-News). Located at the Pennsylvania State University, the Interinstitutional Consortium for Indigenous Knowledge is part of a global network of indigenous knowledge resource centers, and it is the only global indigenous knowledge resource center in the United States. ICIK’s newsletter is published electronically in Spring, Summer, and Fall. The ICIK Newsletter is archived at http://icik.psu.edu. As the Guest Editor for the Fall 2014 newsletter, I am seeking submissions that focus on the theme of indigenous rights as they are reflected in indigenous stories and storytelling practices. We hope to address the following questions about stories and storytelling as an indigenous practice for expressing perspectives on rights: How do stories and storytelling reflect indigenous understandings of people’s rights within tribes and nations, and across political boundaries? Why are stories and storytelling powerful ways to express worldviews, knowledges, and activism within indigenous communities? How can stories and storytelling build cross-cultural understandings of indigenous rights issues? A proposal, not exceeding 300 words, must be submitted by January 1, 2014. Notification of acceptance will be made by January 15, 2014. Articles accepted for publication should not exceed 2,000 words and should be a minimum of 1,000 words. CONGRESO INTERNACIONAL DE FIGURACIONES DE LO INSÓLITO EN LAS LITERATURAS ESPAÑOLA E HISPANOAMERICANA (SIGLOS XIX-XXI). Universidad de León 5-7 Noviembre. Los responsables del Proyecto de Investigación sobre ESTRATEGIAS Y FIGURACIONES DE LO INSÓLITO, de la Universidad de León, invitan a todos los interesados –académicos, expertos e investigadores– a participar en este encuentro que se enmarca dentro del ámbito de los estudios teórico-críticos y comparados en torno a las diferentes categorías genéricas que integran la “ficción distanciada”, es decir las creaciones literarias “no miméticas”, alejadas, en mayor o menor grado, del mundo real o empírico. En las conferencias plenarias, junto con destacados especialistas del mundo académico como Robin Lefère (Université Libre de Bruxelles) y David Roas (Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona), contaremos con la presencia de importantes creadores: Cristina Fernández Cubas, José María Merino, Fernando Iwasaki, Félix J. Palma, Juan Jacinto Muñoz Rengel y Daniela Tarazona. Líneas temáticas: Se pretende abarcar la riqueza de la creación de lo insólito en las literaturas española e hispanoamericana de los siglos XIX-XXI: ● _Cuestiones teóricas de reflexión en torno a las diversas categorías de literaturas no miméticas en las literaturas española e hispanoamericana de los siglos XIX-XXI (definiciones, fronteras y delimitaciones de lo insólito, estrategias). ● _Análisis de obras y autores de las literaturas española e hispanoamericana de los siglos XIX-XXI, enmarcados en los ámbitos de lo maravilloso, lo fantástico, la ciencia-ficción, el realismo-mágico, lo gótico, el absurdo, el terror, etc. ● _Estudios temáticos y de motivos. ● _Estudios comparados sobre lo insólito en las literaturas española e hispanoamericana de los siglos XIX-XXI. ● _Relaciones de lo insólito literario con otras expresiones artísticas. Estudios teóricos y aplicados. La lectura de las intervenciones, en lengua española, se desarrollará en 20 minutos.
