Puesto de trabajo: Assistant Professor in Hispanic Film 1. XI CONGRESO DE NOVELA Y CINE NEGRO: MIRADA CRÍTICA, DENUNCIA SOCIAL Universidad de Salamanca, 14-17 de abril de 2015 La undécima edición del Congreso de Novela y Cine Negro de la Universidad de Salamanca se celebrará durante los días 14, 15, 16 y 17 de abril de 2015. En esta ocasión, el congreso tendrá como título genérico “Mirada crítica, denuncia social” y tendrá como temas preferentes de estudio los que se ajusten a los siguientes centros de interés: 1. Novela negra española 2. Novela negra europea: polar, giallo, nordic noir, krimi, tartan noir… 3. Neopolicial iberoamericano 4. Novela negra universal 5. Clásicos de la novela negra y policiaca 6. Teoría del género negro y policiaco 7. El cine negro clásico 8. El cine negro contemporáneo 9. El cine negro español 10. Novela y cine: adaptaciones de género negro 11. El género negro y policiaco en televisión, cómic y videojuegos 12. Non fiction-novel. Realidad, periodismo y novela negra El objetivo principal del Congreso será reunir a todo tipo de especialistas y creadores que aporten nuevos puntos de vista sobre estas temáticas. Con las aportaciones de los asistentes se pretenden aportar diversos y novedosos puntos de vista dentro del estudio de la narrativa y el cine negros, y, tal como se ha venido haciendo en las anteriores ediciones del congreso, se publicará un libro de actas. Además de los comunicantes, participarán en el congreso destacados escritores, directores de cine, periodistas y expertos universitarios como conferenciantes plenarios. También habrá proyecciones, mesas redondas, coloquios y destacadas actividades sociales. PROPUESTAS Y PLAZOS DE PRESENTACIÓN Las intervenciones en castellano no superarán los 20 minutos y los interesados deberán enviar, dentro la plantilla de comunicaciones que podrán descargarse en la web http://www.congresonegro.com, un resumen (máx. 250 palabras) acompañado de un breve currículum biobibliográfico. La plantilla habrá de enviarse antes del 20 de diciembre de 2014 a la dirección de correo electrónicoprensacongreso@gmail.com. El comité organizador confirmará la aceptación de las comunicaciones antes día 20 de enero de 2015 a través de comunicación vía mail y a través de la página web del congreso. CUOTAS DE INSCRIPCIÓN Las cuotas de inscripción para comunicantes serán de 130 euros (120 para los miembros de la Universidad de Salamanca y 120 euros para los estudiantes de tercer ciclo que puedan acreditar documentalmente tal condición) y los cargos de transferencia serán asumidos del ordenante. Además de los derechos de lectura de comunicación y participación en las actas, los comunicantes recibirán un certificado acreditativo, la documentación del congreso y estarán invitados a diversas actividades sociales. Toda la información relacionada con el XI Congreso de Novela y Cine Negro –conferenciantes, escritores invitados, inscripción, actividades, etc.- se podrá consultar en la web http://www.congresonegro.com CONTACTO: prensacongreso@gmail.com 2. 2015 Conference on Transatlantic Studies INTERSECTIONS OF MEMORY AND VIOLENCE IN THE HISPANIC AND LUSO-‐ BRAZILIAN WORLD March 26, 27 & 28, 2015 The Spanish and Portuguese Program of the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of South Carolina, Columbia is pleased to announce its 2015 conference on Transatlantic Studies: Intersections of Memory and Violence in the Hispanic and Luso-‐Brazilian World. We would like to invite national and international scholars, graduate students, and artists to present their work on the proposed topic. We will examine such questions as: What is the impact of survivor testimonies and memories about authoritarian regimes and what is the importance of coming to terms with the past? How to interrogate violence/human rights abuses in the past while connecting them with present-‐day iterations of violence and violations of rights? How individuals across the transatlantic space (re)act against violence and what is the role of cultural production in these processes? In this conference, we would like to emphasize an interdisciplinary approach to the study of cultural production that engages memory and violence in (trans)national contexts, especially related to the repression of "rights" – cultural, political, economic, linguistic, ethnic, sexual, etc. Research may include areas such as cultural studies, linguistics, history, education, political science, anthropology, sociology, performance, art, or women’s, gender, ethnic, and sexuality studies. The organizing committee welcomes proposals for papers in Spanish, Portuguese and English. The Department of Modern Languages and Classics at The University of Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Hispanic Film starting August 16, 2015. Secondary interests in Literary Theory and Transatlantic Studies are highly preferred. Additional interest in Luso-Brazilian film is welcome as well. The Department is especially interested in candidates whose research is theoretically driven and demonstrates an innovative approach to the study of film and cul¬ture. Evidence of a rigorous research agenda and commitment to excellence in teaching are required. Although film should be the main field of ex¬pertise, the candidate must also be qualified and willing to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in Hispanic literatures and cultures. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish is required. Must have Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2015. Review of applications will begin immediately.
