|January 2016 Newsletter|
|I am writing to thank you for your past support of Feministas Unidas. As we look forward to 2016 I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to renew your membership in our organization. Your support will help us to continue with the important goal of creating and sustaining an international network of scholars in Spanish, Spanish-American, Luso-Brazilian, Afro-Latin American, and U.S. Hispanic Studies. I strongly believe that the work of Feministas Unidas is necessary during these uncertain times in higher education.|
Despite the pessimism that we may sometimes encounter, our organization remains a dynamic group of scholars who support one another throughout our careers. This support begins with graduate students who are eligible to submit an essay to our annual graduate student essay prize contest. We have opportunities for scholars at all career stages to participate in our coalition’s annual panels at the Modern Language Association and South Atlantic Modern Language Association. Additionally, we have members who organize panels at the Northeast Modern Language Association and Midwest Modern Language Association. We are present at national and international conferences. Members are also invited to submit scholarship to the coalition’s own peer-reviewed journal, Ámbitos feministas (soon in its sixth year and indexed in both the MLA and EBSCO bibliographic databases).
In short, I invite you to once again be part of this dynamic organization. You can easily renew your membership by going to our website (http://feministas-unidas.org/) and clicking on Membership.
